Start stop working principle

The start-stop system mainly includes enhanced starter with AGM battery, SISS in-cylinder direct injection ignition starting engine, BSG generator starting unit and ISG integrated motor/generator.

Most of these start and stop systems use a separated combination starter, that is, each start the starter gear needs to be combined with the flywheel to increase the working pressure of the starter, so that the engine speed must wait for the start of the engine to drop to zero (the starter of some start and stop systems uses a common combination type, the engine speed does not need to fall to zero, and the engine can be started at any speed).

Therefore, vehicles equipped with such a start-stop system have a starter that is more durable than a traditional starter, with a service life of up to 300,000 times.

In addition, the battery also needs to be specially strengthened, so that it can be quickly charged and discharged, but also need to have a high capacity to cope with the engine shutdown in the car with electrical work. Ordinary lead-acid batteries cannot discharge multiple large currents during the break time, and their partitions cannot let the electric ions pass through quickly. So cars with stop-start functions need larger batteries.
